12TH NDA Course
(originally 12 th Joint Service Wing –
popularly referred as 12 J), which passed out of
the NDA on 07 Jun 1957, celebrated its Golden
Jubilee from 10 to 12 Jun 2007. The celebrations
were attended by Course-mates, their wives and two
widows who were gracious enough to join and meet
the course mates of their husbands.
A proud course, most of whose
officers have excelled while in service and in
post retirement life, the course has the
distinction of producing one Governor, one Chief
of the Air Staff, one Vice Chief of the Army
Staff, one Army Commander, one Air Officer
Commanding in Chief, several Generals and
equivalent and many senior officers.
Broadly, the programme included wreath
laying at the "Hut of Remembrance" by Lt Gen MM
Lakhera, Governor of Mizoram. Prior to that Maj
Gen Ian cerdozo paid homage to war dead and course
mates who had passed away.
A talk about the NDA was given by the NDA
Commandant Air Marshal TS Randhawa, VM, who
highlighted the developments and improvements
being done at the NDA.
A picnic lunch was held at Peacock Bay,
where the professors who taught the Course then
and have since settled down in Pune, were also
invited. Maj Gen SBL Kapoor expressed deep
admiration for the high quality of education and
training they received then, which stood them in
good stead all through their lives. Complimenting
the NDA for maintaining those high standards, he
warmly thanked the Commandant and officers of the
NDA, who worked very hard to make the Reunion a
memorable one.
A Reunion dinner was held in the Cadet
Mess, where all course mates and their wives
thoroughly enjoyed relating to each other and
talked endlessly, mostly about the good old days.
On the whole the Reunion was a grand success
enjoyed tremendously by all. The whole atmosphere
was filled with nostalgia. Many good old memories
were revived, anecdotes exchanged and camaraderie
re-established.
