Introduction
-
The Alpha squadron is the 1st squadron of the 1st battalion of the NDA ‘ A’ stands for Alpha but we call ourselves “The Apaches”.
-
Once an Apache , always an Apache . There are no ex- apaches.
-
The only kingdom in the Academy is the Apache kingdom – Where the Apache tribe is nestled.
|
History
- The NDA was funded 1949 in clement town.
- ALPHA Squadron was privileged to be the first squadron then. Hence , naturally , the history of alpha is as old as the institution itself .
- Initially known as the ‘Able Squadron,' we have always enjoyed privileges of sort. The first building, the first anteroom, first aquarium and the first gym.
- The first in academy until the 3rd battalion came up, we enjoy a centralized location , equidistant from all the important places .
- The squadron held the pride of the academy in high esteem and remained the visiting squadron for all major dignitaries . When the 75th course called themselves ‘APACHES’- The name held on and the Apache kingdom was born .

Traditions |

- Glider is a an alpha tradition .
- Once an apache always an apache
- First termers are called princes and treated same way .
- All juniors wish their seniors and seniors greet them back.
