| Echo Squadron- The Mighty Eagles |
Introduction
- This Squadron is situated in the 2nd Battalion of the National Defence Academy, also called the Dolphin Battalion . Our squadron is called Echo but we feel pride in calling ourselves as ‘The Eagles’ . Red and Black constitute the Squadron flag , which represents the Academy colour . Echo is the first squadron of second battalion The Squadron is situated in the most centralized location of the Academy .It stands in proximity of cadet mess ,cafeteria , Sudan Block and the CSD . Even the Gole Market is also a few steps away .
|
History
- Echo became the fifth squadron of the Academy when it evolved from the 23rd course of Charlie Squadron. So Charlie is called the Mother squadron of Echo and Juliet is Echo’s Sister Squadron as it was formed from courses in Echo. Echo is the best squadron in the 2nd Battalion and is the only squadron to have a consistent perfomance since its evolution at the Academy level .Echo has always done very well in Cross Country and it has a tradition to win the Glider, the trophy for the Cross Country Champions .The Eagles can do anything to take the Glider .
|
Traditions |
- The traditions in the squadron have continued from one course to another and it is ensured that all the traditions are maintained in the Squadron .
- Echo Squadron is also known as ‘Iron Curtains’ . This is because whatever happens inside the squadron , never goes outside the squadron . Only the Eagles know what is happening in the squadron and rest of the Academy remains oblivious to it.
- ‘Bread and Butter’ of our squadron is Cross Country and Physical Training (PT) . Eagles fly through the Cross Country route when the whole Academy is literally walking , this is the spirit of the Eagles .
- Eagles live and die for each other. We live as a family and care for each others well being.
- Eagles pay atmost respect to their squadron colours and they do not do any punishments in their squadron colour vest or T-Shirts .In this way the Eagles are taught how to respect the Country and the National Flag .
Many ex-Echoes come to the Squadron the day before Cross Country and motivate the Squadron .They distribute ‘Jalebies’ to the whole Squadron wishing the squadron good luck . In fact , any ex-Echo coming to the squadron distributes sweets amongst all the Eagles .
