Golf Squadron
Introduction
  • • The Golf squadron is the 3rd squadron of the 2nd battalion of the NDA. ‘G’ stands for Golf. It is situated near the Main Canteen of the NDA on the road running from the main Canteen to the President's drive, or the Rajpath, that runs from the Sudan Block to the Kondhwa Gate.

History
  • • Golf squadron has a remarkable and glorious history. The building of this great squadron was founded by the state of Gujarat. The squadron which earlier used to be known as "George" changed its name to "Golf" after winning all the trophies of a single term.
  • • Termed as "College" because of its friendly junior – senior relationships, the winning traditions of the squadron has been ideal for other squadrons.
  • • The squadron has an unbelievable record of winning the Chief’s of staff Banners for champion Squadron for six consecutive terms.
  • • Again winning the prestigious cross – country trophy called "Glider" for six consecutive terms has been the Squadron tradition.
  • • 102 course of golf had an unbelievable and unique distinction of seeing the squadron as champion squadron from 1st term to 6th term.
  • • AIWA – (And I win again) has been the squadron josh word, and Chiki-laka, a song has been the Squadron’s winning cry.
Traditions
  • • The victory cry of the squadron CHIKI-LAKA.
  • • The Josh Icon of 'G' Squadron is AIWA (And I Win Again)
  • • The dedication of the cadets towards cross country is unparalleled.
  • • There exist good relationships among seniors and juniors.
  • • The cadets of first term are nurtured in the best possible way.
  • • High respect given to the senior courses (i.e. IV and V termers) by juniors.
  • • Very helpful and easily approachable counsellor i.e. Dr. (Ms) MV Bade.
  • • Good cohesiveness shown by seniors towards juniors.
  • • The stress is on performance and discipline of cadets.
  • • Cadet appointments are helpful and lead by example.
  • • 'Move In' push ups are conducted regularly, which fills the squadron with josh.
  • • Easily approachable, considerate and efficient squadron office.
SQUADRON MOTIF
  • • A new motif has been designed for the Squadron. The motif, a Gutsy Gladiator in action, depicts the indomitable fighting spirit and the relentless pursuit for excellence. It inspires the cadets to emulate the qualities that are described in it.

Latest Happenings
  • • Golf Squadron has won the CoS Banner for the last two terms in succession. It is thus, imperative that we win the Banner this term as well, and achieve the third Banner Replica in the history of Golf Sqn. Under the able guidance of the 117th course, the cadets of the squadron are putting their best efforts towards achieving this goal. The sqn is currently running V in the overall championship for the Banner.
  • • The positions in various Inter-Sqn Competitions for AT-09 have been as follows:

  • • FIRING II
  • • BASKETBALL VI

  • The forthcoming events lined up are Basketball, PT Comp, Drill Comp, Academics, Camps, Firing Comp & Public Speaking. These fields are the strengths of Golf Sqn, and the cadets are preparing in right earnest in getting back to winning ways, in these events. The sqn is currently the Academics Champs, thus, living up to its nickname of ‘College’ in the Academy. Over the last few terms, we have done consistently well in PT and Drill Competition. Hence, these events shall definitely boost up our current performance.
  • On the Academy-level sports, Golf Sqn in among the front-runners in participation in terms of cadets representing the Academy in various Games. The sqn boasts of 4 Academy Hockey Team players, 4 Academy Football Team players, 2 Academy Shooting Team players, 4 Academy Basketball Team players, 1 each in X-Country, Tennis and Squash teams. Thus, there is no dearth of talent and level of skill among the Gladiators.
EVENTS
  • This term, the sqn was visited by the Former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral S C Mehta,PVSM,AVSM,ADC on 20 AUG 09. The Admiral is an alumni of Golf Sqn (G-29), and he took a trip down memory-lane to his cadet-days when he visited the sqn.
