Introduction
- The Lima squadron is the 4 th squadron of the 3 rd battalion of the NDA ‘ L’ stands for Lima but we call ourselves “The Lions”.
- Lion is the Lord of the jungle. It is a jungle out there.
- The kingdom of the Lions is the NDA.

Whenever we ask for mid – term mood from the CSM, we take him to the Balram Nallah and throw him inside it.

History
- The squadron was formed in Spring Term 1962 when the 22nd course of the National Defence Academy was going on. The cadets of the squadron had been formed up from other squadrons. Maj. SJ Puri was the first squadron commander then. In the first term itself the Squadron performed very well itself and came 4th in the overall championship.
- The cadets of Lima Squadron call themselves ‘Lions’ with the motto “Academy is a Jungle Lions Rule it”. The squadron is located at the corner most from the Sudan block. Till very recently its proximity to the periphery and the fields in front of the parade ground gave the lock of a big Jungle.
- The 43rd course of the Squadron got the Banner but it has been exclusive since then. Squadron has had a reputation to be tough amongst the toughest and its cadets have excelled in various disciplines. It has won the Glider 6 times and always had 2 or more medalists in the X-Country. However the main forte of LIONS have been the Camps where it has done well continuously since its formulation. Till date, only 4 courses have passed and without a PLAQUE. The ‘Josh’ level of cadets has always been high and they have set examples in courage and determination

Traditions |
- Camps
The squadron has a tradition of winning the camp competition. Very few courses have passed out of the NDA without winning away of the camps.
- X – Country
Every tem, the squadron has at least a couple of X – Country medalists. It is, indeed, a very rare achievement.
- Special Sports
For the past few terms, Lima squadron is winning the special sports trophy. The reason behind this is the number of all cadets who form a part of the various Academy teams..

- X – Country medals
In the just concluded X – Country competitions, two of our cadets L/107 Sgt Bharat Bhandare and L/108 Cpl Satyadeep Dhanda won the gold and the silver medal.
- Flt Lt N K Bala
The divisional Officer of the 36 Div of the Lima squadron, Flt Lt Nand Kishore Bala has been posted to the AFTT.
- Inter Batallion Quiz
L/106 Cadet Rahul Nagal formed a formidable part of the recently concluded Inter Bn Quiz competition. The No 3 Bn stood second.
