November Squadron

Introduction

The November squadron is the 2 nd squadron of the 4 th battalion of the NDA
It is situated near the President's drive, or the Rajpath,running from the Sudan Block to the Kondwa Gate.
At present November Squadron is being commanded by Cdr VPS Rawat.

Unique Features

It is the only squadron to have a garden in front of its parade ground known as 'Ninja Vateka'.

Squadron Motif

A new motif has been designed for the Squadron. The motif, a Ninja in action, depicts the indomitable fighting spirit relentless pursuit for excellence.

History

In the late seventies, a need was felt to increase the intake of officers in our armed force. Hence it was decided to expand the NDA. Thus the plan lead to the foundation of the NDA wing at Ghorpuri, in the form of two more squadrons in additions to the twelve already existing at Khadakwasla. To this end, the NDA wing was setup with ‘M’ and ‘N’ squadrons for the new entrants.
The 84 course was the last pass out from Ghorpuri, as by that time the squadron buildings were constructed at the Academy in Khadakwasla.
It was in Jan 1991 that cadets of various course from all squadrons were selected and imitated into the new battalion, comprising of Mike, November and Oscar Squadron. The Battalion was then named as the Panzer Battalion and was officially inaugurated by General SF Rodrigues, PVSM, VSM. ADC chief of the Army Staff on 31 may 1991.
November squadron was called the ‘Noble Empire’, and its inhabitants were called the ‘Ninjas.’ Thus the first four courses 80th to 83rd were a mixed breed of different squadrons.
